Excellent grain balance, using dense "Aizu paulownia"

The body uses top-grade Aizu paulownia, and the paulownia density is especially high even for this class. The back board uses a beautiful masame board, and the wood is neither too soft nor too hard, so it can handle a wide range of pieces and playing styles.
"Komochi ayasugi carving" for ideal resonance

The inside of the koto (underside of the top) is beautifully finished with "komochi ayasugi carving" to maximize the acoustic effect. By cutting out unwanted harshness and allowing the sound to resonate beautifully inside, it produces clear, refined overtones and the beautiful, rich lingering resonance unique to kuriko koto.
A flawless, beautiful exterior, refinished by a craftsman

The ko (top) and iso (sides) — usually the biggest concern with a pre-owned koto — have been carefully refinished by a craftsman, essentially as a color touch-up. As a result, the ko and iso are completely free of scratches. Even though it's pre-owned, the finish looks just like new.
The lustrous, fade-free "Koki tamabuchi trim" decoration

The decorative sections such as the shibu-roku use a tamabuchi wrap made of high-grade Koki wood. The decorative parts show almost no fading, keeping their luxurious luster and appearance intact.
Delivered entirely new: the "kuchimae set" and other accessories

So you can use it with complete peace of mind, all of the accessories the previous owner used, such as the kuchimae, will be replaced with a brand-new "kuchimae set" (*the one shown in the photos) for delivery. Please note that koto legs (neko-ashi) are not included.
Fully set up: strings are strung after your order, for a "delivered in perfect condition" guarantee

We never ship instruments that have been strung and left sitting in stock. Once you place your order, our craftsmen string each koto individually, one at a time, at just the right tension, and finish it to sound its best before delivery.

The standard string gauge is No. 17.5 strong Tetron, but it can also be changed to No. 17 or No. 18 to suit your playing style or preference. We're happy to accommodate your preferred tension as well — our craftsmen carefully string the koto after you order, and deliver it in perfect condition.
[Reason for the special price (about the wood inlay)]

As you can confirm in the photos, a carefully done wood inlay repair (umegi) has been made in one spot. This has absolutely no impact on future use or playing, but because of the inlay we've significantly discounted it from our usual pre-owned price (295,000 yen). In practice, the repair blends in so cleanly that you wouldn't notice it unless it were pointed out — a truly great deal. (The previous owner themselves wasn't even aware of the inlay until they let the instrument go.)

A high-grade kuriko koto with this tightly grained Aizu paulownia, finished with komochi ayasugi carving and Koki tamabuchi trim, would normally fall in the 1.6 to 1.7 million yen class if bought new.

Because of the partial wood inlay, it's significantly discounted, but thanks to a craftsman's careful work, this beautiful koto has been brought up to a like-new condition — with no scratches on the ko or iso — and we're offering it at a special pre-owned price (295,000 yen, tax and shipping included). As this is, of course, a pre-owned instrument, if you're concerned about minor scratches or the inlaid section we'd suggest considering a new koto instead, but we confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality instrument they can use for years to come.

Return and Exchange Conditions

As a general rule, returns are free within the specified period after product arrival. However, only unused items are eligible.

・If a non-returnable item such as an opened or used item is returned, 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded.

◇ Japanese musical instrument supplies... Within 5 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Musical instruments... Within 2 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Sheet music... No returns or exchanges

Note) If a used item is returned, it will be sent back collect on delivery, or 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded. (Full refunds are not possible)
For musical instruments (shamisen, koto), returns (within 2 days) are possible after playing the instrument, but please be careful not to scratch the instrument. If there are any stains or scratches, returns are not possible. *Shamisen made with synthetic leather are limited to unused items. (Shamisen with optional artificial skin are not eligible for return or exchange.)
(Returns and exchanges for all products will be refused after the deadline has passed.)

・Upon arrival of your product, please immediately check for any damage.
In the event of a product error, please contact us within 2 days of arrival.
We will refuse returns, exchanges, or repairs for product errors reported after 3 days.
In the case of a product error, we will exchange the item at our shipping cost.
For damage during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours of product arrival.
We will exchange the item under the responsibility of the shipping company, but compensation may not be available if a certain amount of time has passed since arrival.
