■ The genuine value this shamisen holds, and its current condition

A Koki neck densely wrapped with the finest "sunken trochi"
Beautiful trochi (grain) is neatly wrapped around a neck with a deep, reddish-black luster. This piece's trochi pattern is a "sunken trochi," so it's hard to see with the naked eye, but as the photos show, it's actually a top-quality Koki material with trochi wrapping the whole neck, extraordinarily hard, with a top-tier density.

No kanberi! A gleaming finish thanks to a craftsman's careful polish
There is no kanberi (surface denting from play) on the neck — usually the biggest concern with a pre-owned shamisen. There was no kanberi to begin with, and a craftsman's careful polishing has further given it a beautiful, like-new luster and a smooth feel. Beyond the surface too, it's in wonderfully clean condition.

The finest "genuine ivory, chamfered itomaki" and a "komochi ayasugi body"

Itomaki: Fitted with a "genuine ivory, chamfered itomaki (pre-owned)." Finely adjusted by a craftsman, so it holds its tuning extremely well and won't cause any stress while playing.

Body: A "komochi ayasugi body" specification, with precise fine grooves carved into the interior to maximize the acoustic effect. The body has no noticeable scratches and has a beautiful luster, and is in an exceptionally clean state overall. The neck-joint height and slant have all been inspected and adjusted.

The lavish "finest yotsukawa on both sides" specification that defines its tone (normally priced at 80,000 yen)
For the skin — the very heart of the shamisen — we've generously stretched "the finest yotsukawa (cat skin) on both sides" to bring out the fullest resonance of Nagauta. This is top-tier skin — a Tokyo specialty shop would charge at least 100,000 yen for skinning of this level alone. Our craftsmen, among the best skin-stretching artisans in the country, stretch it firmly and fully, producing an exceptionally delicate, beautiful tone.

Delivered entirely new: accessories for a pleasant playing experience So you can use it with complete peace of mind, all of the accessories needed for playing — koma, dokake, neo, nagabukuro, washi bag, body rubber — are brand new. (*The color of the dokake and neo can also be changed. Feel free to ask us.)

Currently, a Nagauta shamisen with this much sunken trochi and a Kinhoso/genuine-ivory-itomaki specification would cost around 2 million yen or more if bought new. With the finest Koki wood and quality yotsukawa skin becoming extremely difficult to source, this Kinhoso shamisen is truly the kind of piece that would honestly make us want to price it even higher.

Overall it has no noticeable scratches and is in clean condition even among pre-owned instruments, but as this is, after all, a pre-owned instrument, if you're concerned about minor scratches or color unevenness we'd suggest considering a new shamisen instead.

[What matters after you've bought your shamisen]
A shamisen is a consumable item, so with long-term use the itomaki will wear down and loosen more easily, the skin will eventually need replacing, and other repairs will become necessary sooner or later. We provide thorough after-sales support, so it's never "sell it and we're done" — we keep repair costs low, take full responsibility for supporting any questions or concerns you have as you continue to play, and hope to build a long-term relationship with each and every customer.

As explained on our "Shamisen knowledge and how to choose one" page, we generally do not recommend buying pre-owned shamisen (such as through auctions), but in recent years we've received many inquiries such as "Will you buy my shamisen?" or "Do you carry pre-owned shamisen?" — so we established our own very strict assessment standards, and we now purchase and resell as pre-owned only those shamisen that meet them.
Because our purchasing assessment standards are so strict, it's difficult for us to carry (prepare) a large number of pre-owned shamisen, but we make sure to offer instruments that can be enjoyed for a long time to come even though they're pre-owned. Of course, we take full responsibility for the periodic maintenance these instruments need, such as re-skinning and itomaki adjustment, as well as after-sales support once you've purchased.
*Even after necessary maintenance, pre-owned shamisen may still have minor scratches or color unevenness, so if this concerns you, please consider a new shamisen instead.

About Delivery Methods

For products marked with "Eligible for Trackable Mail" on each product page, delivery at 198 yen is possible. However, if the package exceeds the specified packing size after order placement due to quantity or inclusion of other items, we will switch to courier delivery (600 yen). Return and Exchange Conditions

As a general rule, returns are free within the specified period after product arrival. However, only unused items are eligible.

・If a non-returnable item such as an opened or used item is returned, 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded.

◇ Japanese musical instrument supplies... Within 5 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Musical instruments... Within 2 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Sheet music... No returns or exchanges

Note) If a used item is returned, it will be sent back collect on delivery, or 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded. (Full refunds are not possible)
For musical instruments (shamisen, koto), returns (within 2 days) are possible after playing the instrument, but please be careful not to scratch the instrument. If there are any stains or scratches, returns are not possible. *Shamisen made with synthetic leather are limited to unused items. (Shamisen with optional artificial skin are not eligible for return or exchange.)
(Returns and exchanges for all products will be refused after the deadline has passed.)

・Upon arrival of your product, please immediately check for any damage.
In the event of a product error, please contact us within 2 days of arrival.
We will refuse returns, exchanges, or repairs for product errors reported after 3 days.
In the case of a product error, we will exchange the item at our shipping cost.
For damage during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours of product arrival.
We will exchange the item under the responsibility of the shipping company, but compensation may not be available if a certain amount of time has passed since arrival.
(Note) Damage caused by yourself after product arrival is not covered by compensation.
