■ This koto's genuine value and current condition

Quality "Aizu paulownia" that suits any player The body uses quality Aizu paulownia. As shown in the photos, the grain is well balanced, and a rich, expressive figure spreads across the entire surface. The wood feel is neither too soft nor too hard, striking a very easy-to-handle balance that lets a wide range of players enjoy it comfortably.

Almost no ji marks — "wonderfully clean condition" The top is the part people worry about most in a used koto, but there are almost no dents or dings of the kind caused by a fallen ji (bridge). Overall it is in wonderfully clean condition — a quality piece you can bring home with total confidence. This clearly reflects how carefully and attentively its previous owner treated it.

The decorative trim, such as at the shibu-roku (4:6) points, uses a tamabuchi edge made of high-grade Koki wood. The trim shows no fading and retains its beautiful luster.

"Ayasugi carving" for clear, transparent overtones The inside of the koto (underside of the top) is finished with "ayasugi" carving to enhance its acoustic resonance. As the sound reverberates beautifully inside, it produces exquisitely clear, refined overtones and the rich, lush sustain unique to a kuriko koto.

Only once we receive your order does our craftsman string each koto individually at the optimal tension, finishing it to play beautifully before it ships. We use No. 17.5 strong Tetron strings as standard string thickness, but we can also switch to No. 17 or No. 18 to suit your playing style or preference. We're happy to accommodate requests for a different tension as well — our craftsman carefully strings the koto after your order and delivers it in perfect condition.

[About string tuning]
As a rule, we tension the strings for the standard "high pitch" (takachoshi) tuning.
We generally do not recommend the "high/low pitch" (koteichoshi) setup that allows both high and low tunings.
This is because achieving a low tuning requires stringing the whole koto more loosely than usual overall.
In that case there's no problem when playing in a low tuning, but when playing in a high tuning the strings are looser than normal overall, which keeps the tone from reaching its full potential — a drawback.
If you mainly play pieces in a low tuning we recommend the high/low tuning setup, but for everyone else the standard high-pitch setup is recommended.

About Delivery Methods

For products marked with "Eligible for Trackable Mail" on each product page, delivery at 198 yen is possible. However, if the package exceeds the specified packing size after order placement due to quantity or inclusion of other items, we will switch to courier delivery (600 yen). Return and Exchange Conditions

As a general rule, returns are free within the specified period after product arrival. However, only unused items are eligible.

・If a non-returnable item such as an opened or used item is returned, 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded.

◇ Japanese musical instrument supplies... Within 5 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Musical instruments... Within 2 days from arrival date (including arrival date)
◇ Sheet music... No returns or exchanges

Note) If a used item is returned, it will be sent back collect on delivery, or 50% of the product price (tax included) will be refunded. (Full refunds are not possible)
For musical instruments (shamisen, koto), returns (within 2 days) are possible after playing the instrument, but please be careful not to scratch the instrument. If there are any stains or scratches, returns are not possible. *Shamisen made with synthetic leather are limited to unused items. (Shamisen with optional artificial skin are not eligible for return or exchange.)
(Returns and exchanges for all products will be refused after the deadline has passed.)

・Upon arrival of your product, please immediately check for any damage.
In the event of a product error, please contact us within 2 days of arrival.
We will refuse returns, exchanges, or repairs for product errors reported after 3 days.
In the case of a product error, we will exchange the item at our shipping cost.
For damage during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours of product arrival.
We will exchange the item under the responsibility of the shipping company, but compensation may not be available if a certain amount of time has passed since arrival.
